Yesterday I shared that my co-founder is out, as a co-founder. I’ve had some time to get used to it but it doesn’t feel right to say that I’m the founder of byflock. It isn’t true.
Even if it’s very early days, byflock is still something we created together. It wasn’t just me. It was my co-founder and I. We did it together. He was the one who gave us our visual identity. He did the business cards that have been handed out to numerous people. Who I sat with down on Southbank on a Saturday filling in a first draft of the business plan. There have been many catch ups, particularly in the early days so no, byflock is not something I founded. It’s something we co-founded.
As times goes by and we move into building an actual living and breathing company, out there for the world to properly see, I suspect that calling myself the founder will become easier. You can’t actually say that we’re properly founded just yet. Sure, we exist, have products that are being worked on, but there are still some things that need to be in place before I consider us properly being a company. But even years down the line when we’re really up and running my co-founder will in some sense always remain as such. The person I co-founded byflock with.
