When the alarm goes off on Monday morning many of us probably hit snooze or wish it was still the weekend. Monday’s are when the week ahead is at it’s longest and but, it’s also where we have the biggest opportunity to set us up for the rest of the week.
I like fresh starts and Mondays are in a way a fresh start. A new week cycle begins and by kicking Monday off to a good start you can help set up the rest of the week to follow suit. At least that is my theory.
If Mondays are hard and feeling slightly blue trying to plan in tasks that you prefer to do when in such a state of mind can be one way to make the start of the week easier. It can be tasks that are better suites for when you’re feeling a little less energetic, or tasks that you know will cheer you up. If you don’t have any way to impact what you spend your day working on then ensuring you have something nice planned in the evening, or perhaps just as simple as treating yourself to a special coffee on your way into work, can help you get off to a good start.
I don’t have any research or stats to back this up with but it seems logical that if you start the week on a positive note there is a higher chance that the rest of the week will follow suit. Mondays are after all when the week ahead is at it’s longest so the more we can do to make Monday a day to look forward to, the better.
