It’s that time a year again when the cities get decorated in lights and Christmas music is played in every corner. It’s dark and crisp outside, at least in this part of the world, and the air is filled with anticipation and a little bit of magic.
Today I’ve spent the day with my aunt and uncle who’s in town and we went for a walk down by Southbank and the Christmas market that is down there. I can’t get enough of the lights and the smells and could easily spend all of my time up until Christmas going from one Christmas decorated cafe or restaurant to the next.
This is my favourite time of the year and I’m becoming more fond of it with every year that goes by. As I get older, and perhaps as I spend yet another year living abroad, traditions, family and friends are becoming increasingly more important. The host in me wants to bring everyone together. Spend hours in front of the stove cooking and then having people around. I’m in awe of anything that is Christmassy and there is nothing better than coming into the warmth after being outside in the cold. The only thing that is missing is the snow, but who knows if’ we’re lucky that might just come in time for when Santa arrives.
