For the last 12 years my family and friends have had to put up with me visiting rather than being around for more spontaneous and dare I say normal socialising. I’ve missed a lot of special occasions due to living abroad and I’ve missed a lot of everyday life.
Despite all of that they are always there for me and for that I am immensely grateful. I’m spoilt. My family is absolutely amazing and so are my friends. I couldn’t ask for anything better. They support and encourage me and being away from them is the hardest part of living abroad. Despite my flying visits and tight schedules when I’m home they always make the effort. No matter how little we see each other or how short my visit may be, we always pick up right from where we left off. They make it feel like I’ve never really left. There are no awkward moments or silences showing that the years since I lived close to them actually have passed and that means more than anything to me.
Living away from them is not forever but it’s been longer than I initially planned so thank you for being patient and for helping our relationships remain the way they are. You mean the world to me and make my visits back home something to really look forward to, no matter how hectic they may be.
