NYC and I were friends before we even met. Somehow we belong together. Funny really because this time last year I hadn’t even been once, but by October I will have been three times and I know there’s more to come.
My family joked with me years ago that the next place I’ll move will be NYC. I’m not so sure that is true but what I do know is that NYC will and already have started to play a role in my life and in our lives, D’s and mine. And something tells me it’s just the beginning. I can’t explain why but I have that strong feeling of something about NYC just being right. A feeling I’ve learnt to trust as my most reliable guide for when great things will come out of a decision I make.
I do believe that some things are meant to be and that the strong feelings of it being right are indications of when I’m on the right path. However, I also believe that you influence your path and the outcome by making active decisions. Decisions that make your path stronger and clearer. As we went to SXSW earlier this spring we included a stop in NYC on the way back. There were a few people and places I wanted to visit, General Assembly being one of them. I went to see them and that led to me teaching a class over at GA here in London in May and another one planned for the 6th of August (if you’re interested there’s more about it on the Eventbrite page).
With regards to this autumn there are a few things that brings me back to NYC. Workwise and non-work wise there are a number of people to say hello to and visit and as part of the changed priorities for fall I can work on byflock just as well whilst sitting in a cafe in NYC as I can over here in London so I might as well make the most of it. To add to that D and I are yet to have some proper time away together this year and spending some time over in NYC is what both of us want to do. And the final cherry on the cake is that I’ll be teaching a class over at GA in NYC which I’m really excited about.
What will come out of the next NYC adventure we’ll see but no doubt it will lead to something good and be a nice and much needed treat for both D and I after what has been a very hectic spring and summer.
