Had I known when I was offered this contract that it would eat up near all of my time and energy I would not have taken it. Because without a question my day job has set us back quite a bit with byflock.
It has put a stopper to the pace and schedule we had set out for progressing our products, attending events and meeting people. Still, my contract is a very interesting project. It’s just the taking over my life bit that is less good. As I mentioned yesterday I keep shifting between being ok to being furious. After all, I’m freelancing to have a bit more freedom and to be able to dedicate more time to byflock. Not to work 11+ hour days in my day job.
In the early days of startup life time is what most people have to invest. It’s what I have to invest. And time, as we know, is money. By working more than my contracted hours in the day job I am effectively giving my time away for free and that…Well, it just doesn’t work. And it’s making me think even more about what I need to do for autumn when it comes to my work setup.
I do like a challenge though and I will make it work and this project (at the day job) will be great. All the hard work and frustrations of not having much of a life outside of it… If anything it’s just sparring me on to work harder and make sure we get to where we want to be with byflock. It’s coming, just with a slight setback at the moment.
