I can safely say that I’m quite a passionate person. I feel very strongly about the things I really care about. Sometimes that does also make me quite stubborn. Or persistent I should probably say.
Passion can be incredibly positive, motivating and also a driver. But if taken to the stubbornness level…Well, it can have the opposite effect, leading to conflict and stalemate. Giving up (on) the things we feel very strongly about is easier said than done. I’m not very good at it.
Now of course I will say, and truthfully mean, that my stubbornness is due to really believing in something and mostly (not always) I’m stubborn until convinced of the other argument, or agreeing to disagree.
The key to passion in the workplace is to use it in the right way. Don’t let your passion get the better of you and blurry your vision. As with most things in life there are different ways of doing things. One is seldom the only right option. No matter how much you believe in it.
