Quite contradictory to what I’ve set out to do – write one blog post a day during 2016 – I’m not one for absolutes, especially not when it comes to new years resolutions. They tend to set you up for failures and disappointment rather than success. Instead I prefer goals of what to do more / less off.
The other day I came across this article on Inc that talks of 17 things to do during 2016. It touches on the problems with absolutes with regards to new years resolutions and offers a different take on what those resolutions could be. Rather than say “go to the gym 3 times a week” and then break the resolution after that first time you missed the third gym session, this article proposes a list of one off things to do, sometime during 2016. From ‘Do one thing you’re afraid of’ to ‘Do something foolish’.
Besides my rather long list of things to do more and less of this year, I have three things on my Inc inspired list:
- Put some of my courses on Udemy
- Kick off the UX fika events
- Write a book
The first two I’ve been meaning to do for some time. The latter is a more recent seed that’s been planted in my mind.
Happy 2016 everyone!
Anna
