It’s the 1st of January and for many that means a new beginning and new year resolutions that we’re trying to keep. I have a few of my own and one of my main ones is to not just talk about my projects but to start doing.
Last year I started freelancing. I set out to do shorter contracts (max 3 months, preferably 3 weeks) to get a broader taste of what I wanted to focus on and how I wanted to work. But a project that I couldn’t resist came up and I’m now in my 9th month over at the BBC working on Sport Olympics. The fact that I’m working on the Olympics also means that since April last year it’s been all about 2012 and now that 2012 is actually here… Well, that’s not changing.
What I learnt in 2011
2011 was very much about finding my ground, exploring and getting a feel for what I really want to do. As I’ve talked and written about I don’t believe in freelancing and the more I’ve thought about what I want to do, the clearer it got in my head that the things I really burn for, that really excite me are:

Three things for 2012
I’ve mentioned before that I have an ideas list and that there is one idea in particular that’s made me really excited. Lately I’ve had a few more and I can’t get them out of my mind. So, 2012 will be about them. It’s too early to reveal what these ideas are, but it has to do with three things:

At this stage everything is far from clear in my head but as a means to make sure I actually do and not just talk, these posts on 2012 Day by Day will follow my journey of realising at least three of my projects this year. And by writing about it I also hope that you too will learn as I explore some new and exciting territories.
