This week I’ve been reminded of the importance of being around people who are doing a similar thing to you. Someone who knows what you’re going through, who you can exchange advice, pep talks or kicks in the behind with.
I’ve also been reminded of how lovely it is to be around old colleagues and familiar faces with whom you already share some history. At the start of this year I hoped to have a first version of our main product launched by now. But that didn’t happen. It’s been a little bit disheartening but at the same time this year has brought me other things which will make next year easier. I’ve learnt a lot and I’ve made so many new friends. Though still at the infancy friendship wise, I cherish them immensely. After all it’s people that bring the biggest smile to my face.
This week, as I’ve started a new freelance contract over at an agency where a number of ex-colleagues of mine work, I’ve smiled a lot. Time after time I’ve run into people I used to work with but haven’t seen in a while. As much as I still enjoy going from one place to another I do miss being part of a team. As a freelance you don’t really belong anywhere and your colleagues change on a regular, or irregular basis. And that makes it all the sweeter when you end up working with familiar faces again.
