There are few things that are better than the feeling of the weekend being just around the corner after a productive week. No matter how much I love what I do knowing that the next day when I wake up I can have a lie in, go for a run and then treat myself to a big breakfast.
Though the weekends are great the week itself shouldn’t be about longing for the weekend. Not every day will be as fun but there are little things that we can do to make the weekdays feel a bit more special.
I don’t do it very often but today we had a breakfast meeting in town before the day job. Not only did the breakfast itself feel like a treat but being in town again where things are a bit more happening made me feel more alive. It’s been nearly a year and a half since I’ve worked in town and arriving early this morning, sitting down in the cafe watching how other people gradually turned up, it made me realise how much I enjoy being in the middle of it.
Our weeks can be quite hectic and full on and it’s easy to get stuck in the hamster wheel, counting down the days until it’s Friday. We often forget how motivating breaking our daily routines can be and whether it’s a sit down breakfast, a coffee with an old friend or just 30 minutes of you time before work, it doesn’t really matter. Little treats once in a while can do us a world of good and serve as a reminder that life is much more than the routine of everyday life. And all it takes is us breaking our habits.
