Today I ran a breakfast seminar over at Bouvet Syd in Malmö and it was the first UX related thing I’ve done in Swedish.
I used to go to Sweden quite a bit with my last permanent job at Dare. Sony Ericsson (now Sony Mobile) was one of our main clients and the head office was suitably placed in my home town, Lund. But our meetings were always in english meaning that today was the first time I’d ever prepared something work related in my native language. And it was lovely and actually felt a little bit special.
I’d been a little concerned about not being able to find the words in swedish and it happened three times where I after a second or two searching my brain reverted to the english expression. I’m sure some other expressions were a little off and some things could have been formulated better, but for me it was lovely to talk about my passion in my native language and to do it back home.
