My friends and family have come to know that my stubborn and determined nature means that if I say I’m going to do something, I will do it. Objecting or trying to reason against it only fuels my drive. If my mind is set, my mind is set. I will do it.
At the core of it lies that I’m a doer. If given the option of talking about it or doing it I take doing it every time. That’s why right now is getting me a little frustrated every once in a while as I’m doing a lot of talking in these post, but very little doing. As for my determination it isn’t fixed on doing something in a particular way. Rather it’s fixed on achieving what I want to achieve. Be that a move, a trip to the other side of the world, buying a flat, renovating it, or jumping out into the unknown following my dream.
No need to worry
I’ve never doubted that things will work out. I know that one way or another they will. Perhaps not the way I planned them to, but they will work out. And often they work out even better than I imagined so I tend to jump in feet first. Day 040 | Jumping in feet first talks a bit more about it.
Worrying about what might go wrong, not happen or what I should do then is not who I am. I don’t see the benefit. But, I don’t go in completely blind folded. I always know what my options look like and I plan ahead with a very clear picture of what “ahead” is. I know there is always a backup. At times perhaps that backup should be a little more solid. Starting to freelance at the same time as starting major flat work was in hindsight a bit more stressful than it needed to be and pushing the start of the loft conversion just a month would have mitigated the stress. But you live and you learn. And that’s what we’re meant to do.
A strong belief and no doubt
I’m a strong believer in that worrying brings no good. It eats up time and energy, causing problems which otherwise would not have existed. Instead, if you focus that energy and effort on what you want you will get it in one form or another, even if it looks slightly different than you imagined.
When it comes to business and our products I’m a bit more planned than in my personal life. But I still prefer to jump in feet first, always with the strong underlying belief that if one thing doesn’t work out something else will and no matter what we will have learnt from the first try.
You can’t be afraid of ‘what ifs’ if you want to reach for the stars. You have to trust that the wind will catch you and bring you somewhere else. And that each step forward is one step closer to where you want to be. Life is an adventure and we’re not meant to always know where it takes us. We’re meant to live and learn from what we do. And one way or another things will work out.
Tomorrow – Day 185 | Use your time wisely. Every hour adds up
