Working from everywhere and nowhere, as we do at the moment with byflock, you don’t have a space to make your own. You carry your work with you and pack it into your bag after the day is done. A bit like back packing from one office to the next if you so wish.
Yesterday over at the Pastry Box Project Leisa Reichelt wrote about how the space she works in affects her work. I’m also very very influenced by the space I work in and I guess I share that with quite a few people. A non-inspiring, or non-challenging environment for that matter, makes me other than well, uninspired also slightly fidgety. I need stimulus, something my mind can bounce ideas against. A change of scenery every now and again, be that people moving about or breakout areas where you can camp and work for a while.
My brain works best when I’m able to see the bigger picture. That means a need to be able to spread out. To put things up on the wall. To scribble and move things around. To bring someone along and instead of moving the focus of the document on a screen, point at a sketch or print out.
That’s what I can’t wait for. When we have a space that we can make our own. Put our mark on, fill with scribbles, work and inspiration.
Tomorrow – Day 117 | Or Day 115 as I thought it was
