We’ve been in Austin less than 24 hours and already we’ve met some lovely people and had things fall into place. It’s a great first start and tomorrow the conference kicks off.
Today has mostly been about getting a feel for the city, sort out registration and our badges and enjoying a bit of quiet time before the conference begins. A lot of people have been arriving throughout the day and you can tell the city has become busier as the evening has progressed. It’s lovely knowing that people you know from back home are arriving and that a bunch of people you don’t yet know but will know by the end of this, are somewhere walking around town.
For me this conference feels quite different. Not just because it’s a greater mix of people and skills, a bigger event and a new destination but because it’s the first time I’m going as part of a company that I’ve brought into the world. My badge says byFlock and although that is a little thing it’s still a huge thing. We exist. Because we decided to. We’ve come up with the name, the branding, our vision and mision and the ideas we’re working on our our ideas. It’s a lovely, lovely feeling and being here and telling people that that we’re setting up byFlock is all of a sudden making it feel very real. I guess because it actually is. Finally.
